Founder of Academic Coach, an on-line service business, my first career was in investment banking, followed by 17 years in academia, as a legal academic. Frustrated with not being able to concentrate on the things I excelled at, and knowing lots of people needed my skillset, I unboxed my own expertise and moved out of the constraints of working for an employer so I could focus on the things that really mattered to me. I created a 6 figure business in 2 years full time work, having never been in business before. But in doing so, I encountered so many frustrations with accessing the kind of knowledge base I needed to get that business off the ground and really working to its maximum potential. And I was an academic, so accessing knowledge should not have been as difficult as it was.

As a result, I launched Expertise Unboxed, so that you don’t have to suffer the same endless researching for all the things you need to start your on-line service business. So many business consultants stick within a tiny niche, and then tell you the kinds of things someone running a business with 6-20 employees and 1 million dollar turnover might find useful in that niche, but nothing else. You have to employ many different consultants to find out the little bit of knowledge you need, but then end up getting overwhelmed by all the things. You only need just the information you are looking for at your stage. It’s too much, much too soon and in my experience, can lead to people freezing in place and doing nothing at all.

As an experienced teacher, used to explaining complex things at different levels for all kinds of different audiences, I have a particular skillset in breaking things down so that everyone can understand them.
